French Shopkeeper Becomes Million-Dollar Meme Coin Overnight

PIERRE, a token named after a man photographed at a looted shop in Nice, rose from a roughly $9,700 market cap on October 18 to about $1.75 million on October 19, 2026. Its main Pumpswap pool recorded $5.9 million in trading over 24 hours. The token was about 27% below its peak when reported, and the source says no link to the man in the photo has been shown.

Pump.fun’s promotional account highlighted one trader who made $34,000 in profit from a $200 purchase. A separate breakdown of 413,579 Pump.fun wallets over 30 days found that 96.8% lost money or made less than $500; those figures are not specific to PIERRE. The photo followed riots during October 17 demonstrations across France, after which the Interior Ministry reported nearly 2,400 arrests.
