Brazil’s Petrobras is testing Cardano with the Cardano Foundation and PUC-Rio in two projects to track data and environmental claims for low-carbon fuels. Both projects remain in the research phase, with no date for a commercial launch.
One project uses a Book-and-Claim system for sustainable aviation fuel, allowing airlines to claim verified environmental benefits even when the fuel is used outside their operations. The other would track Petrobras’ renewable-content Diesel R through production, transport and use; companies could use those records in Scope 3 emissions reports.
