Polygon Labs’ Chief Information Security Officer, Mudit Gupta, confirmed on social media that the company uses CrowdStrike services. However, Polygon Labs’ systems were unaffected by a global IT outage caused by a CrowdStrike update on July 19.
The outage impacted millions of Windows users, including critical infrastructure like emergency services, airports, and stock exchanges. Gupta highlighted that Polygon Labs avoids such issues by thoroughly testing updates before deployment. This incident underscores the vulnerability of industries still reliant on traditional Web2 infrastructure.
Despite the widespread disruption, crypto and Web3 services, including Polygon networks, remained operational due to their decentralized nature. Crypto experts view this as a wake-up call for industries to adopt blockchain and digital assets for greater resilience.
