Ripple CEO Discusses SEC Lawsuit Outcome

Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, and Stuart Alderoty, CLO of Ripple, recently reflected on the first anniversary of Judge Torres’ Summary Judgment in the SEC v. Ripple lawsuit. This pivotal decision on July 13, 2023, determined that XRP is not a security.

Alderoty emphasized the significance of this ruling, noting its impact on the ongoing legal battle and the relief it brought to the crypto industry. He pointed out that while the courts have curtailed the SEC’s overreach, achieving clarity through litigation is costly and unsustainable, highlighting the need for legislation.

Garlinghouse underscored the resilience of Ripple and the crypto industry despite the SEC’s aggressive stance under Chair Gary Gensler. He affirmed that the SEC’s actions have failed to eliminate the industry, and Ripple would emerge stronger.

In the past year, XRP’s price has shown bullish trends, with recent intra-day highs and lows of $0.4774 and $0.4452, respectively. Its market capitalization and 24-hour trading volume surged by 6% and 46%, illustrating the cryptocurrency’s robust recovery.

The strategic importance of this decision lies in its broader implications for the crypto industry and the ongoing push for clearer legal frameworks.
