Tezos Unveils ‘Tezos X’: Major Blockchain Upgrade

Tezos developers have unveiled “Tezos X,” a major upgrade aimed at enhancing the usability and utility of the PoS blockchain. Announced in a recent blog post, Tezos X is envisioned as a significant evolution, creating a more integrated and efficient blockchain ecosystem.

Tezos launched in 2017 after a $232 million ICO but has since struggled to meet lofty expectations. The new upgrade shifts from a monolithic to a modular design, allowing accounts and transactions to migrate to a “canonical rollup,” which frees up the layer-1 chain for faster consensus and settlement.

Tezos X, in development since early 2022, incorporates Smart Rollups and a dedicated Data-Availability layer. This ensures the mainnet can handle vast data amounts while maintaining decentralization. The approach boosts on-chain performance and enhances composability and interoperability.

Set to roll out through 2026, Tezos X positions the blockchain for long-term scalability and efficiency, crucial for maintaining its competitive edge in the evolving blockchain landscape.
