Avalanche Revolutionizes Grain Ownership Records

Arya.ag Tests Tokenization of Grain Warehouse Receipts on Avalanche

  • Arya.ag is testing a system to tokenize warehouse receipts for stored grain on an Avalanche layer-1 blockchain.
  • The company manages approximately $2 billion in agricultural commodities and issues around $230 million in loans annually through its lending arm, Arya Dhan.
  • Each tokenized receipt will represent ownership of the stored commodity, facilitating better collateral assessment for banks.
  • Finternet will create a “composite token” combining information from farmers, commodities, warehouses, and insurance.
  • The Indian government previously launched a credit-guarantee program to support financing against electronic negotiable warehouse receipts.

This initiative aims to enhance agricultural lending by providing lenders with a shared record of grain storage and ownership status, thereby reducing risks associated with collateral management.

With Arya.ag managing about $2 billion in commodities and facilitating $230 million in loans each year, the project represents a significant step towards integrating tokenized assets into traditional finance systems. (Source)
