Ripple Wins Final US Approval for National Trust Bank

Ripple announced that the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency gave final approval to Ripple National Trust Bank, completing a chartering process that received conditional approval in December 2025. According to Ripple, the federally supervised trust bank may manage reserves backing Ripple USD (RLUSD), serve as collateral trustee for RLUSD holders and provide digital asset custody services. RLUSD will continue to be issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, a Ripple company regulated by New York state.

National trust banks focus on holding and managing assets for clients. According to the OCC, most do not accept deposits or make loans and do not have federal deposit insurance.
