The IOTA Foundation’s Web3 Identification Solution, developed with partners like wait.id and IDnow, has been selected for the European Blockchain Sandbox, per a June 13 blog post. This initiative by the European Commission, launched in 2023, aims to test new distributed ledger technology (DLT) solutions in a regulated environment.
The Web3 Identification Solution revolutionizes traditional Know-Your-Customer (KYC) processes by using DLT and tokenization, allowing users to control their personal data efficiently and privately. The identification process starts with IDnow’s remote verification, compliant with EU Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and KYC standards. The reusable soulbound token recognized by Web3 dApps reduces repetitive identification procedures, enhancing user experience and privacy.
HAVN Network ensures regulatory compliance with a dedicated EVM-compatible KYC chain linked to the Shimmer network. This selection marks a significant milestone, fostering regulatory discussions on KYC and privacy in Web3. Additionally, IOTA’s partnership with Pyth Network, providing low-latency price oracles, bolsters the decentralized finance (DeFi) landscape by improving data accuracy and security.
The long-term strategic importance lies in advancing regulatory-compliant, user-friendly digital identity solutions within the evolving Web3 and DeFi ecosystems.
