Polygon Labs Issues Urgent Upgrade After Hardforks

Polygon Labs Urges Node Operators to Upgrade Following Hardforks

  • Nodes using Bor versions earlier than v2.10.0 are incompatible post-Austin activation at block height 91,949,700.
  • Heimdall validators must upgrade to version v0.11.0 after the Kyoto hardfork activated at height 51,533,000 on August 18.
  • The Austin hardfork capped gas usage for state-sync events to prevent potential chain stalls due to excessive processing time.
  • Kyoto’s fixes include a check on deeply nested messages that could overload validators during transaction processing.
  • Both upgrades are binary with no need for state migration or resynchronization for nodes that have not diverged from the main network.

Polygon Labs reported that any Polygon PoS node remaining on outdated binaries has fallen out of canonical consensus and must upgrade to reconnect with the network’s history.

The urgency of these updates is underscored by the activation heights of both hardforks, which necessitate immediate action from operators to maintain network integrity and performance standards.(Source)
