Polygon is set to replace its MATIC token with the innovative POL token starting this September. Although there are no immediate deadlines for MATIC holders on Ethereum and Polygon zkEVM to upgrade, the community can set a future deadline.
This transition is expected to boost token migration progress significantly, with research strategist Tom Wan predicting an increase to over 50%. Currently, Dune analytics data reports the migration progress at just 0.1%.
The POL upgrade testnet, launched on July 17, enables users and developers to get accustomed to the new system before the mainnet migration. This proactive step helps ensure a smoother transition and better preparedness.
