The Fantom Foundation recently unveiled more details about its new Layer-1 blockchain, the Sonic Network, which uniquely connects with Ethereum through a Layer-2 bridge. This innovative integration allows Sonic to leverage Ethereum’s vast user base and liquidity, marking a significant first in blockchain technology by combining the benefits of both layers. Sonic’s standout feature is its capacity for 2,000 transactions per second (TPS) with single-second finality, drastically cutting storage needs and costs.
With the launch of the Sonic chain, users can migrate their $FTM tokens to the new $S token at a 1:1 ratio, initiating a smooth transition to the advanced platform. The migration, initially bidirectional, will eventually become one-way, enhancing the Fantom token’s value, which has already seen a 20% increase in the past week. This strategic development not only signifies a leap in blockchain technology but also solidifies Fantom’s position in the market.
