BNB Chain plans to build a separate Layer 1 network alongside BNB Smart Chain, according to an October 22, 2026, update to its documentation cited by X user KuiGas. The network is intended to complement, not replace, BSC. KuiGas said an internal test network is operating, but neither the public testnet nor the mainnet has launched; the current schedule targets a public testnet by the end of 2026 and a mainnet in early 2027.
The planned network will use BNB for fees, staking and governance, with no separate token. According to KuiGas, its targets include a block time of about 200 milliseconds and transaction pre-confirmation in roughly 20 milliseconds.
