Stellar Introduces Project Thruput for Fee-Free Parallel Transactions

The Stellar project team introduced Project Thruput, an experimental model intended to run transactions in parallel even when they change the same blockchain data. It is available on the FutureNet test network, with open-source code, documentation and reproducible benchmarks.

In early tests, payment execution rose from 1.18 million per second on one machine to 7.02 million per second on eight machines. The benchmarks measured Project Thruput’s core engine, not end-to-end network throughput. The model has no per-transaction fees, but gas still caps each transaction’s execution; when demand exceeds capacity, scheduling depends on an account’s unlocked native-token balance.
