Ripple said on October 26, 2026, that the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency had granted final approval to charter Ripple National Trust Bank, following conditional approval in December 2025. According to Ripple, the approved activities include managing segregated reserves backing its RLUSD stablecoin, acting as collateral trustee for RLUSD holders and holding digital assets in fiduciary custody.
The charter is not for a conventional deposit-taking retail bank. It does not guarantee RLUSD’s market price or mean every Ripple product is directly supervised as a national bank. Ripple’s announcement also does not establish that the trust bank has begun operating or that its reserve-handling processes are live.
