Solana deploys congestion fix on devnet

Solana developers have launched a crucial update to tackle network congestion, promising a smoother experience.

By introducing version 1.18.11, developed by Anza of Solana Labs, they aim to address the slowdown caused by spam transactions. This unique approach bypasses traditional mempools, directly processing transactions to manage congestion. The move to optimize computing and introduce a stake-weighted Quality-of-Service (QoS) system stands out as a novel strategy to prioritize transactions efficiently, setting Solana apart.

March saw record-high trading volumes on decentralized exchanges due to this congestion, underscoring the urgency of the fix.

The successful implementation of these solutions could significantly enhance Solana’s operational performance, marking a pivotal step towards sustaining its role as a major DeFi hub.
