Analyst Sees Potential Bitcoin Rally Despite Democratic Sweep

Democrats won majorities in both chambers of Congress in the November 3, 2026, U.S. midterm elections, according to the source. The majorities take office in January. Coinshares researcher James Butterfill said their control could make passage of the CLARITY crypto bill harder, but existing regulatory progress, including the GENIUS Act, would remain in place.

Butterfill said bitcoin may already have priced in a Democratic sweep, leaving room for a relief rally rather than another sell-off. He expected U.S. crypto stocks, especially businesses reliant on new regulatory permissions, to be more sensitive to the result than bitcoin. He said real yields, dollar liquidity and investment-product flows still mattered more to bitcoin than the election.
