Binance’s $570M Bitcoin Moves to Mystery Wallet

Unchained data shows that 7,500 BTC taken from Binance’s Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU) on Oct. 31 reached an unlabeled wallet at 05:56 UTC on Nov. 3. The coins were then split into smaller outputs and moved again, but the data does not identify who received them, and Binance has not explained the transfers.

Binance said it partly used SAFU to cover losses from a hot-wallet breach, alongside other funds, but did not say how much came from each source. SAFU has just over 7,500 BTC left, worth about $572 million—below the $800 million threshold in Binance’s refill rule. That rule applies to declines caused by bitcoin price changes, not spending. Binance has separately pledged to restore SAFU to roughly $1 billion but has given no date.
