Bitcoin Bans Hit Iran’s Nobitex Exchange

U.S. Sanctions Target Iran’s Top Crypto Exchanges

  • On June 2, 2026, the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctioned Nobitex and three other Iranian exchanges.
  • Nobitex processed over half of Iran’s digital asset inflows in 2025, facilitating transactions linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
  • Ramzinex, founded in Tehran in 2018, handled $2.45 billion in transactions, including those tied to the IRGC.
  • Wallex and Bitpin also received sanctions for processing significant volumes of IRGC-linked transactions.

The sanctions block U.S.-related property interests and restrict dealings with designated entities, emphasizing the need for enhanced compliance measures among crypto firms globally.

Nobitex’s designation under Executive Orders highlights its role in facilitating financial activities for Iran’s regime, underscoring the increased scrutiny on Iranian crypto exchanges by international regulators. (Source)
