Bitcoin Fork ECX Falls 76% From Peak

Paul Sztorc’s Ecash Bitcoin fork launched its mainnet on Oct. 29, 2026. Its planned distribution gave nearly every BTC holder an equivalent ECX balance at a 1:1 ratio, except Satoshi Nakamoto.

At 4:15 p.m. Eastern on Nov. 4, 2026, ECX traded just above $32, down nearly 31% over 24 hours, with an estimated market capitalization of $639 million. Exchange support was very limited, and thin liquidity means that valuation may be sensitive to even modest trades. The source says a $6.3 billion Binance hack on the launch day drew more attention than the debut; it does not establish that the hack caused ECX’s price decline.
