Bitcoin Liquidation: Cango Secures $75M Capital

Cango Inc. Reduces Debt with Major Bitcoin Sales and Secures AI Funding

  • Cango Inc. sold a total of 6,451 BTC in February and March, generating approximately $442 million.
  • The sales reduced Cango’s outstanding Bitcoin-collateralized debt to $30.6 million by March end.
  • Cango’s operational hashrate was lowered to 37.01 EH/s, down from a peak of about 50 EH/s in late the previous year.
  • A $65 million equity investment and a $10 million convertible note were secured to support Cango’s pivot towards AI compute infrastructure.

Cango Inc.’s strategic sale of Bitcoin significantly reduced its debt burden while freeing up capital for its transition into AI computing services, targeting small- and medium-sized enterprises with new infrastructure solutions.

By selling its Bitcoin holdings, Cango not only minimized its crypto-backed loans but also set the stage for an operational shift towards AI technology deployment across existing sites, reflecting a strategic focus on improving cash margins per site over expanding total hashrate capacity.
