Japan Expands Crypto Travel Rule Network to Enhance Transaction Monitoring
- On April 25, Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) added 30 jurisdictions to its crypto travel rule network.
- The updated framework now covers a total of 58 markets, increasing compliance demands for exchanges and stablecoin issuers.
- Newly included jurisdictions are France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, the Czech Republic, South Africa, and Türkiye.
- Japan’s travel rule requires Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) to share identifying information for both originators and beneficiaries during transfers.
- The amendment aims to create a whitelist-style network of foreign jurisdictions with equivalent regulatory standards.
Japan’s FSA has expanded its crypto travel rule framework to include an additional thirty jurisdictions as of April. This move is part of an effort to enhance transaction traceability by requiring detailed information sharing between VASPs in compliant regions.
With this expansion, Japan now monitors crypto transactions across a broader range of markets while ensuring data transparency aligns with international standards. (Source)
