JPMorgan Asset Management projected a 10% compound annual return for bitcoin over 10 to 15 years in its 2027 Long-Term Capital Market Assumptions, released Oct. 19. That forecast exceeds its assumptions for U.S. large-cap stocks, gold and U.S. real estate investment trusts. The firm said it introduced a bitcoin return range but did not include bitcoin as a portfolio allocation.
Swiss regulator FINMA approved a retail fund investing directly in bitcoin on Oct. 20, with an exemption from ordinary diversification requirements. BIT Asset Management expects its Bitcoin Fund ETF to begin trading in November. OpenAI also confirmed its acquisition of Orchestra Bio on Oct. 20 to support AI-assisted drug development.
