Tether’s Bitcoin Extends Beyond Publicly Known Wallet

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino told a forum in Lugano that the company controls about 150,000 bitcoin, worth an estimated $11.5 billion at $77,000 per coin. The source does not give a date for his remarks.

Tether International’s reserve attestation reported $8.367 billion in bitcoin backing USDT as of September 30, 2026, equivalent to more than 100,000 bitcoin at the report’s reference price. That attestation covers USDT reserves, so it may exclude investments held by affiliated businesses; the difference does not necessarily mean assets are missing or backing is insufficient. Tether has not provided a consolidated breakdown showing when the additional coins were acquired, where they are held or which entity owns them.
