Bitcoin Donations Spark Backlash Against Joe Biden #Bitcoin

President Joe Biden is considering accepting cryptocurrency donations through Coinbase Commerce, sparking criticism from the crypto community. This move, revealed amid legal battles involving Coinbase and the Biden administration, has led many industry figures to call for a boycott of Biden’s campaign.

Commercial litigator Joe Carlasare pointed out the contradiction in Biden’s stance, as the SEC sues Coinbase while Biden’s campaign plans to use its services. Pro-XRP lawyer John Deaton and Messari CEO Ryan Selkis echoed these concerns, highlighting the inconsistency and dysfunction in Washington’s approach to crypto.

Nic Carter of Coin Metrics criticized the administration for its adverse actions against the crypto industry, including pressuring banks and targeting Bitcoin miners. Reports indicate that Biden’s campaign aims to show support for crypto voters, despite past regulatory pushbacks.

While still in the exploratory phase, this move could influence the closely contested election. Crypto-backed super PACs have amassed significant funds, highlighting the strategic importance of the crypto community in upcoming elections.
