Bitcoin ETF Approval Nears CBOE Refiles

CBOE Refiles for Bitcoin ETF Options Trading, Q4 Approval Anticipated

  • CBOE has resubmitted its application for options trading on spot Bitcoin ETFs, addressing SEC concerns about position limits and market manipulation.
  • Previous applications from Nasdaq, NYSE, and CBOE were withdrawn on August 8, potentially resetting the SEC approval timeline to late April 2024.
  • Inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs surged, with BlackRock’s IBIT leading at $164.5 million on a single day, contributing to Bitcoin’s 8% price rally to $61,800.

Bloomberg strategist James Seyffart noted that while the refiling might reset the approval clock, the SEC’s engagement with CBOE could expedite the process, underscoring the growing institutional interest in Bitcoin ETF options trading.

With significant inflows and heightened market activity, the approval of Bitcoin ETF options trading could further solidify cryptocurrency’s integration into traditional financial markets, potentially driving substantial growth and innovation in the sector.
