Bitcoin ETF Launches as Morgan Stanley Files S-1

Morgan Stanley Files for Bitcoin and Solana ETFs with SEC

  • Morgan Stanley has filed for Bitcoin and Solana Trusts with the U.S. SEC.
  • The Bitcoin Trust aims to track BTC price and provide spot exposure, while the Solana Trust will track SOL price and engage in staking activities.
  • Morgan Stanley plans to offer in-kind creation and redemption for both funds but has not disclosed custodians or listing exchanges.
  • Currently, there are twelve spot Bitcoin ETFs with total net assets of $123.52 billion, representing nearly 7% of BTC’s market cap.
  • Morgan Stanley seeks to become the ninth issuer of a spot Solana ETF, which has already attracted $1.09 billion since its launch last October.

These filings indicate a growing trend among traditional financial firms embracing cryptocurrency investments, as Morgan Stanley also plans to roll out crypto trading through its E-trade division this year.

With these new trusts, Morgan Stanley is positioning itself alongside other major issuers in the crypto ETF space as it aims to capture institutional interest in Bitcoin and Solana.
