Bitcoin critic Peter Schiff has criticized the flawed logic of Bitcoin proponents who argue that the US National Debt will lead to soaring BTC prices. Schiff finds it misguided to suggest the US government could buy Bitcoin now and sell it in 20 years to repay the debt without causing inflation.
He also questions the investment philosophy of “never sell your Bitcoin” promoted by figures like Donald Trump and Michael Saylor, arguing it leads to a paradox where investors live in poverty while accumulating BTC.
Additionally, Schiff slammed Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis’ proposal to use $70 billion from US reserves to buy 1 million Bitcoins, likening it to borrowing more debt. He warns that this could exacerbate the country’s financial instability.
Schiff’s critiques highlight the impracticality and potential dangers of using Bitcoin as a solution to national debt issues.
