On June 27, Lookonchain revealed that a Satoshi-era miner wallet became active after 14 years, transferring 50 BTC to Binance. This wallet received 50 BTC on July 14, 2010, shortly after Bitcoin’s inception.
The miner’s move comes during a period of miner capitulation, where reduced mining rewards and Bitcoin price volatility post-halving are causing miners to liquidate holdings. Recent data shows a 10.95% monthly and 6.77% weekly decrease in Bitcoin’s price, now trading at $60,920.46.
Bitcoin maxi Fred Krueger argues that such miner activity has minimal impact on Bitcoin’s price, stating that even the top 5 miners selling half of their 34K BTC holdings would only affect 0.1% of Bitcoin’s value.
This event underscores the strategic significance of miner behavior in the crypto market, especially during periods of economic pressure.
