Bitcoin Surges After Powell’s Testimony

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s testimony to the US Senate Banking Committee may have sparked a bullish trend for Bitcoin (BTC), now trading at $57,453.86 after a 2.99% rise in the last 24 hours.

Powell’s semiannual address on monetary policy, focusing on inflation and interest rates, has influenced the crypto market positively. BTC’s recent surge follows significant losses from sell-offs by Mt.Gox and government liquidations.

Historically, this marks a notable recovery within the crypto market, where Bitcoin had faced intense selling pressure. Powell’s cautious stance on inflation, seeking confidence before policy easing, has infused optimism among investors.

Altcoins have also benefited, with Ethereum up 3.45%, and others like Solana, PEPE, DOGE, TRON, BONK, and SHIB registering gains between 1.60% to 10.35%. Despite uncertainties, the crypto market has seen no further offloads from the German government, which instead accumulated more BTC.

Powell emphasized that prolonged high interest rates could hamper economic growth, highlighting the delicate balance the Fed must maintain. This testimony underscores the strategic significance of monetary policy on digital assets, reflecting broader economic implications.
