Bitcoin surges amid Trump-Iran meeting, Hormuz proposal

Bitcoin rose above $87,000 after President Donald Trump said U.S. envoys had held a three-hour meeting with Iranian representatives on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Trump called the meeting “very productive” and said more talks were planned, but he had earlier said a final decision on a broader deal could come after the November midterms.

Iranian media reported that Iran again sought an end to the U.S. naval blockade, the unfreezing of assets and an end to the war on multiple fronts. Bitcoin traded around $87,200 in the report, while trading volume was down 32% and Bitcoin futures open interest had risen more than 1% to $61.40 billion over 24 hours.
