Bitcoin Trading Launches at $1.3T BPCE

Groupe BPCE Launches Crypto Trading for Clients

  • Starting Monday, customers of France’s Groupe BPCE can buy crypto assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and USDC.
  • The initial rollout targets about 2 million clients from four regional entities, including Banque Populaire Île-de-France and Caisse d’Épargne Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.
  • Trading will occur through a dedicated digital-asset account in the bank’s apps, with a monthly fee of €2.99 and a transaction commission of 1.5% (minimum €1 per transaction).
  • The service will be expanded to other entities by the end of 2026 as BPCE monitors performance and operational impact.
  • Hexarq has received authorization to lead BPCE’s digital-asset services, positioning it for consumer product scaling after limited prior activity in crypto.

European banks are increasingly offering digital-asset services to compete with fintech platforms that have gained significant user bases. This move by BPCE reflects a broader trend among banks to retain customer relationships within their platforms.

With approximately two million customers initially able to trade cryptocurrencies, this initiative marks a significant step for Groupe BPCE in the digital asset space.(Source)
