German Government Sells 1,300 Bitcoin to Exchanges

The German government has sold another 1,300 Bitcoin (BTC) to major cryptocurrency exchanges Coinbase, Kraken, and Bitstamp. This transaction, amounting to nearly $76.5 million, took place today amid a dip in Bitcoin prices below $59,000, raising concerns of further declines.

Historically, this brings the total Bitcoin offloaded by the German authorities to nearly 8,000 BTC, leaving them with a remaining 42,059 BTC. This continuous liquidation reflects the government’s strategic approach to managing and potentially reducing its exposure to the volatile crypto market.

Recent data shows significant movements, including the transfer of 832 BTC worth $50 million and another 361.877 BTC valued at $22.65 million to market maker Flow Traders on July 2. Such systematic divestments highlight the German government’s efforts to mitigate risk in the crypto space.

This ongoing Bitcoin liquidation by a major government underscores the broader implications for market stability and the strategic importance of state-level crypto asset management.
