Kamala Harris Launches Election Ad Before Bitcoin Event

Kamala Harris, now the presumptive Democratic nominee, released her first campaign ad just a week after President Joe Biden announced he won’t seek re-election. The ad debuted ahead of the Bitcoin Conference, from which Harris also chose to abstain.

The ad, set to Beyoncé’s “Freedom,” underscores Harris’s focus on various freedoms, such as safety from gun violence, bodily autonomy, and economic security. It marks her swift rise in the campaign, emphasizing a future where “no child lives in poverty” and “no one is above the law.”

Notably, the ad avoids mentioning finance or cryptocurrency, a choice that comes amid backlash from the crypto community. David Bailey criticized Harris’s absence from the Bitcoin Conference, framing it as a missed opportunity.

In contrast, RFK Jr. pledged to have the federal government buy Bitcoin, highlighting the differing stances on cryptocurrency within the political landscape. This contrast underscores the high stakes and strategic importance of cryptocurrency policy in the upcoming election.
