BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes has announced the Maelstrom Bitcoin Developer Grant Program on July 17. This new initiative aims to support Bitcoin developers, enhancing the cryptocurrency’s resilience, scalability, and privacy.
The grant program offers 12-month funding, with monthly payments ranging from $50,000 to $150,000 in BTC, USDC, and USDT. Applications are open until August 25, with awards expected in Q3 and Q4 2024.
Maelstrom Fund, managed by Hayes’ family office, focuses on small-cap, venture-stage investments. This initiative is significant as it targets the development of dApps, smart contracts, and blockchain protocols using Bitcoin, reinforcing its position as a core asset in the crypto space.
The announcement comes as Bitcoin shows recovery, trading at $65,183, up 3.49% in the past day. This program underscores the strategic importance of fostering innovation within the Bitcoin ecosystem.
