British football club Real Bedford FC has acquired an additional $4.5 million worth of Bitcoin. This purchase, announced by Chairman Peter McCormack on July 21, brings the club’s total Bitcoin holdings to over 82.7 BTC.
This investment is part of a broader trend where corporations are adding Bitcoin to their treasuries. Real Bedford plans to reserve 15.8 BTC for football-related activities, while the remaining will be moved to the club’s treasury.
Notably, earlier this year, the Winklevoss Twins invested $4.5 million in Bitcoin to become co-owners of Real Bedford FC. This acquisition reflects the growing confidence in Bitcoin as a strategic asset.
Additionally, Japan’s Metaplanet announced another Bitcoin purchase, bringing its total holdings to over 104 BTC. Corporate interest in Bitcoin is rising, with firms like Boyaa planning significant investments.
With Bitcoin trading around $68,000, this move could spur further corporate participation in the cryptocurrency market, potentially driving its value higher.
