Russia’s Central Bank Approves Retail Bitcoin, Ethereum Trading

Russia’s central bank announced that exchanges will be allowed to admit Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDT to public trading from November 17. Retail investors will be able to buy them through intermediaries, including brokers, managers and crypto exchanges, subject to a 300,000-ruble annual purchase limit per intermediary. Institutional investors will have no such limit.

The bank said it selected the assets based on market capitalization, average daily trading volume and at least five years of pricing history on international exchanges. It said the approach is intended to reduce risks for retail investors.
