SEC Weighs Approval for BlackRock Bitcoin ETF

BOX Exchange Seeks SEC Approval for FLEX Options on BlackRock Bitcoin ETF

  • BOX Exchange has filed to amend BOX Rule 5055 to introduce FLEX equity options on the BlackRock Bitcoin ETF (IBIT).
  • The SEC is currently deliberating on this approval alongside similar proposals from Nasdaq PHLX and Nasdaq ISE.
  • Nasdaq ISE is the first exchange to receive approval for options on IBIT.
  • The SEC has only approved cash-settled options for IBIT so far, with no decision yet on FLEX options.
  • Bitcoin’s price surged nearly 8% in the last day, reaching $93,243, following increased trading activity.

The introduction of Bitcoin FLEX options could enhance risk management and liquidity for market participants amid ongoing volatility in the BlackRock Bitcoin ETF.

As of now, Bitcoin is trading at $93,243 after a significant recovery, reflecting strong interest in the market as evidenced by a rise in futures open interest by over six percent.(Source)
