Bitcoin Developers Grant by BitMEX’s Hayes

Former BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes is launching a new grant program aimed at enhancing Bitcoin’s resilience, scalability, and privacy. The Bitcoin Grant Program, backed by Hayes’ Maelstrom fund, will support blockchain developers in tackling scalability and privacy issues.

Applications are open until August 25, with grants ranging from $50,000 to $150,000 per developer, paid monthly in BTC, USDC, or USDT. Grants are expected to be awarded in Q3 or Q4 2024, with candidates undergoing an interview with Hayes or Jonathan Bier.

This initiative stands out by focusing on Bitcoin’s technical development and offering substantial financial support. The announcement follows BitMEX’s recent plea of guilty to violating the Bank Secrecy Act, highlighting the industry’s ongoing regulatory challenges.

Strategically, this program could significantly bolster Bitcoin’s infrastructure, making it more robust and secure for future use.
