Cantor Fitzgerald, a major U.S. financial services firm, has launched a Bitcoin financing business with an initial $2 billion in funding. CEO Howard Lutnick announced the move on July 27 at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville.
The new initiative aims to provide leverage to investors holding Bitcoin (BTC) and will collaborate with select Bitcoin custodians. Lutnick emphasized the goal of bridging traditional finance and digital assets.
During the conference, Lutnick defended Tether (USDT) and highlighted its importance in maintaining liquidity in the crypto market. He also advocated for unrestricted global trading of Bitcoin.
This move follows the introduction of spot Bitcoin ETFs in the U.S., which has boosted institutional investment. Cantor Fitzgerald’s financing business is expected to further enhance this trend.
Former President Donald Trump, speaking at the same conference, urged attendees to “never sell your Bitcoin” and pledged to maintain a national stockpile of the cryptocurrency if re-elected.
