Bitcoin Proposal: 2,200 Letters Urge Senate Support

In just 48 hours, over 2,200 letters have flooded the U.S. Senate, urging support for the ‘Strategic Bitcoin Reserve’ bill. The bill, introduced by Senator Cynthia Lummis, aims to create a decentralized network of secure Bitcoin vaults managed by the U.S. Treasury to safeguard Bitcoin assets from theft.

This proposal marks a historical milestone, setting an ambitious goal for the U.S. Treasury to acquire 1 million Bitcoins, which is about 5% of the total supply. The standout feature is the strategic use of Bitcoin as a hedge against inflation, aiming to position the U.S. as a global leader in financial innovation.

According to Dennis Porter, over 1,300 letters were sent to Democratic senators, 850 to Republicans, and 41 to Independents. The bill’s introduction comes as U.S. inflation rates, which rose over 3% in early 2024, begin to cool, sparking renewed interest in cryptocurrency investments.

This initiative has drawn support from key political figures, including Donald Trump, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Kamala Harris. Creating a Bitcoin reserve could offer a robust financial tool to manage future economic challenges, ensuring long-term national financial security and innovation.
