Former President Donald Trump’s keynote at the 2024 Nashville Bitcoin Conference has prompted Vice President Kamala Harris to reassess her cryptocurrency stance. Trump unveiled plans for crypto-friendly regulations to boost economic growth and solidify the US’s digital finance leadership.
Nigel Green, CEO of deVere Group, called it a “masterstroke,” predicting a significant impact on Harris’s campaign. Trump aims to create a national bitcoin reserve by retaining all Bitcoins held by the US government, valued at around $14 billion.
This move pressures Harris and the Democratic Party to engage with the 40% of Americans involved in crypto. Wealthy tech and crypto donors have already contributed over $120 million to Trump’s campaign.
Trump also proposed a Bitcoin advisory council and pledged to fire SEC Chair Gary Gensler, ending what he termed the “persecution” of the crypto industry. This proactive stance reshapes the political landscape, with any hesitation from Harris potentially undermining her campaign.
