Japanese financial giant SBI Group is partnering with U.S. asset manager Franklin Templeton to introduce spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in Japan, anticipating regulatory approval. SBI will hold a 51% stake in the venture. This collaboration signals potential approval from Japan’s Financial Services Agency, which has yet to decide on Bitcoin ETFs. The move aligns with Japan’s push to explore alternative assets, as indicated by recent reports about the Government Pension Investment Fund considering Bitcoin and other commodities.
