German Government Transfers $56.65m BTC Amid FUD

The German government moved 1,000 BTC worth $56.65 million amid a bearish market, transferring 250 coins each to Coinbase and Bitstamp, with the rest sent to an unknown address. This transaction occurred at 06:48 UTC today.

Historically, on July 6, Germany moved $40.47 million in Bitcoin to the same address, later splitting into two wallets holding $91.6 million and $23.7 million respectively. Joana Cotar, a Bundestag member, urged a halt to these sales, calling Bitcoin a “strategic reserve currency” that could diversify Germany’s assets.

Bitcoin is currently down 2.2% in the past 24 hours, with trading volume up 29% to $26.6 billion, and a market cap of $1.11 trillion. Justin Sun offered to buy Germany’s Bitcoin holdings via OTC to minimize market impact.

The strategic movement of such large Bitcoin holdings highlights the significant role of cryptocurrencies in national financial strategies and their potential impact on global markets.
