MicroStrategy Acquires 12k Bitcoin in Bold Move

MicroStrategy has purchased 11,931 Bitcoins for $786 million, confirmed by founder Michael Saylor on June 20, 2024. The acquisition was funded through convertible notes and cash reserves.

This purchase brings MicroStrategy’s total Bitcoin holdings to 226,331 BTC, valued at around $15 billion. The average purchase price for this latest batch was approximately $65,883 per Bitcoin, and the acquisition occurred between April 27 and June 19.

Historically, this is a significant milestone as it positions MicroStrategy as one of the largest Bitcoin holders, second only to BlackRock, which holds over 305,000 BTC. The company’s strategic move follows an $800 million offering in convertible senior notes, indicating its aggressive growth strategy towards Bitcoin accumulation.

This move underscores MicroStrategy’s long-term commitment to Bitcoin, highlighting its belief in the cryptocurrency’s potential as a strategic asset.
