Mt. Gox Transfers $2.47B Bitcoin to Bitstamp

Mt. Gox moved an additional $2.47 billion in Bitcoin to the Bitstamp exchange amid ongoing creditor repayments. The transactions began today at 04:46 UTC, with 32,371 BTC worth $2.13 billion sent to a new address and 5,106 BTC valued at $336.61 million moved to the Mt. Gox Cold Wallet.

Historically, Mt. Gox’s transfers follow the exchange’s bankruptcy and its recent commitment to repay creditors. This activity is unique because of the sheer volume of Bitcoin being moved and its direct link to creditor repayments. On July 23, Mt. Gox had already transferred 47,000 BTC, with Bitstamp receiving 2,238 BTC from Mt. Gox.

These transactions indicate a strategic effort to repay creditors, with Kraken already confirming repayments. Despite the large transfers, Bitcoin’s market price remained relatively stable at $66,360, down only 0.85% over 24 hours. The strategic redistribution of assets underscores the ongoing efforts to resolve Mt. Gox’s bankruptcy and repay creditors.
