Swiss tech company Proton has launched Proton Wallet, a self-custody digital wallet for Bitcoin, available on web, Android, and iOS platforms. This new wallet supports crypto transactions via email, even if the email address isn’t linked to Proton Mail.
Proton, founded in 2013, has a history of privacy-focused services and blockchain initiatives. A standout feature is the ability to send Bitcoin using email addresses, simplifying crypto transactions. The company has integrated onramps in over 150 countries for Bitcoin purchases.
Proton is also working on a paid version, Proton Wallet Plus, with enhanced security features for high-risk users. This development underscores Proton’s commitment to privacy and decentralized finance, insulating itself from traditional financial risks.
