Standard Chartered Begins Spot Bitcoin and Ether Trading in UAE
- Standard Chartered has launched spot trading for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) for institutional clients in the UAE.
- This makes Standard Chartered the first global bank to offer such services in the region, regulated by the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
- Eligible clients can access trading through the bank’s electronic trading channels integrated into existing platforms.
- The bank previously introduced digital asset custody services in September.
- Other firms, like Capital.com and Revolut, are also pursuing regulatory approvals for crypto services in the UAE.
The introduction of spot trading for Bitcoin and Ether by Standard Chartered signifies a growing acceptance of digital assets among traditional financial institutions in the UAE.
With this launch, Standard Chartered expands its crypto offerings, following its earlier custody service introduction last September. (Source)
