Bitcoin bounce rejected at 50-day trend line

Bitcoin gave back early gains around Wednesday’s Wall Street open, falling 0.3% on the day at the time of writing. BTC/USD failed to break above $81,700 and fell as low as $80,297 on Bitstamp. Its 50-day moving average, at $81,831, remained a resistance level.

US stocks opened flat ahead of a Federal Reserve interest-rate statement and press conference. CME Group data put the odds of no change to the 3.75%–4% rate range at 90.6%; the decision had not yet been announced. Glassnode said bids had shifted toward $78,000–$79,000, where it expected buyers might step in if Bitcoin fell further.
