Bitcoin ETP Launches at Nordic Bank

Nordea Bank to Offer Bitcoin ETP Amid Growing Crypto Demand

  • Nordea, Scandinavia’s largest bank, will allow customers to access a Bitcoin-linked exchange-traded product (ETP) starting in December.
  • The bank has over $286 billion in assets under management and serves more than 10 million customers.
  • This decision marks a shift from Nordea’s previous ban on employees buying Bitcoin due to regulatory concerns.
  • The change is attributed to improved regulations, particularly the European Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).
  • Currently, approximately 2.1 million people in the Nordic region own cryptocurrency, up from last year’s figure of around 1.5 million.

Nordea’s move reflects increasing demand for crypto investment products as institutional and retail investors seek exposure to digital assets within established markets. The bank aims to adapt its offerings as the regulatory landscape matures and customer interest grows.

With crypto ownership rising significantly, Nordea’s upcoming Bitcoin ETP could cater to a growing market of approximately 2.1 million crypto owners in the Nordics.
