Bitcoin Sells 32 BTC in Major Sale

Strategy’s First Bitcoin Sale Since 2022 Amid Stock Distribution Needs

  • Strategy sold 32 Bitcoin (BTC) for $2.5 million, averaging $77,135 per BTC.
  • The company’s Bitcoin holdings decreased from 843,738 BTC to 843,706 BTC.
  • Following the sale, Strategy’s shares fell over 6%, trading at approximately $148.70.
  • Proceeds from the sale will fund preferred stock distributions amid investor scrutiny.
  • In addition to Bitcoin, Strategy sold $128 million in Class A shares last week.

This sale marks the first reported disposal of Bitcoin by Strategy since a tax-loss transaction in the previous year, raising concerns about its preferred stock financing model and potential future sales of BTC to meet obligations.

As a result of this activity, Bitcoin’s price dipped below $72,000, trading at $71,939 at the time of reporting. The recent sale reflects a broader trend of cooling corporate demand for Bitcoin as some companies reduce their holdings after months of accumulation.
